PHONE CALLS CAN CHANGE LIVES - EBS UK LTD INITIATIVE SET TO PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT INCOME FOR 'CAN'

About the scheme;

EBS UK LTD has been the largest distributor of Orange and 3 Mobile products into the UK market for the past two years. The organisation has recently set up a 'Least Cost Routing' operation and formally stated that a percentage of the profits will be donated to 'CAN' on an ongoing basis.
Although drug and alcohol misuse and abuse is a major concern for businesses, society at large and a high priority on all political agendas, EBS recognises that this has still not translated into appropriate support for the many excellent agencies working hard and effectively at 'the coal face'.

Linda Juland, CEO of 'CAN' hopes that this may provide real hope for the future: " The initiative that EBS UK has shown in helping drug and alcohol services through this scheme is unique and exemplary. The fact that this arm of their operations has been set up to actively address the lack of support for our area of social concern is truly enlightened.
We thank and applaud them for recognising that agencies such as ours are struggling to fund the range of services people need in order to regain their lives ".

Chairman of EBS, Ray Kingston said, "As a company and as individuals we have always given to charity but we wanted to do it in a more organised way ensuring that every penny was well spent."

Mark Jennings, Commercial Director of EBS explained, "EBS have now employed a dedicated person to promote and sell LCR and mobile solutions to both local and national businesses. Every month we will donate a percentage of our LCR income to CAN. A one off donation from the profit generated from mobile phone sales to companies that have also committed to the LCR proposition will be donated. Potential subscribers will still make their decisions on a commercial basis, however the knowledge that they are making cost savings and supporting the community will be an added bonus.
Having worked with CAN for the past six months and witnessed first hand the effects of alcohol and drug abuse within the community has further strengthened our support for this project. We are now supporting an excellent but under funded local charity within our operations.
We are all very excited in the potential of this venture and look forward to supporting CAN both now and in the future"
.

Stuart McQuade , CEO of N-Compass, Northamptonshire’s Business Support Agency (click here for weblink) to the 5000 voluntary sector agencies said, "We were delighted to hear that EBS were supporting CAN in this way. When business looks after the community then the community looks after business. N-Compass has switched over to the EBS telecoms scheme. We were concerned about the switch but it was absolutely problem free. It happened without noticing and the discounts on our bills are excellent. Knowing that we are supporting CAN at the same time is fantastic. I would recommend to all voluntary sector groups to explore these savings, particularly when money is so tight. The service is fantastic."

Pixel Shift Productions - Northamptonshire social enterprise film makers - are currently shooting a film about the EBS project - this will be available in DVD format in early March . For further information please contact Richard on 07977120243.
